My cat curls up next to me on my bed and sleeps at my husbands feet all night. It looks like 50/50 chance for both of us. It would be appropriate to have our affairs/insurance in order!

Only a shame that the Vet is uneducated to know that cats naturally "astral" travel - that is, they aren't locked into believing they are merely "physical" beings - they read energies.
Oscar is more than likely tuning into the dying individual's altered rates of vibration/state of awareness - and greeting them "astrally" as they begin to let go of their physical manifestation.
Bet he is highly valued as he prepares them for "afterlife". I also googled "Tibetan Perspectives on Death and Dying". One heck of a valuable kitty.
