What a strange world!
I sit here with a stack of DVD's showing people completely healed from diabetes Type 1 and 2 after 30 days on a raw diet, and then I see this from Diabetes Australia.
And while we're on the subject, I'm told the managing director of McDonalds Australia is now on the board of Diabetics Australia. Why am I not surprised?

Gingko and Dementia
Sorry to say, Gingko has now been proven NOT to slow dementia. A report in JAMA on 3069 people aged 75+, half of whom took Gingko twice daily, and the other half a placebo Over 6+years, 523 contracted dementia, 246 on the placebo, 277 on the Gingko.
One other point about Gingko. Dr gerry Brady tells me that it's not a great idea to be run over by a bus if you are on Gingko. Surgeons have real problems staunching blood flow with Gingko users.

New Book by Mary Enig and Sally Fallon
When Cassie and I wrote 'The Untold Truth About Coconut Oil', one of our mainstay research sources was the redoubtable Dr Mary Enig, author of 'Know Your Fats'. She is one of two women I really respect in health matters because of their astounding research.
The other is Sally Fallon, President of the Weston A. Price Foundation.
Now they have cooperated to produce a book that I think is an absolute read for anyone not yet really conversant with the cooking oils and trans fats debate. Frankly, although I know and appreciate how hard it is for people to find the time to research health matters, I believe this issue is one everyone needs to read. Why? Because I believe that trans fats are killing us by the millions, that's why!
There. Now I've said it. Here's more information about it, and you can get it by clicking below.

A Belated Happy Christmas to all of my readers!
It's Christmas Eve and I'm still sitting on the dratted computer.. but... this is a task I have great joy in performing.
It's time to personally thank you, my reader, as you read this Blog. It's been inspiring to watch the realtime widget (on your right) fill with red dots. Some days it looks like USA's been taken over by Reds. On other days it's Europe's turn to shine. But every time I look there are more, and more, and more readers.
So at this auspicious time my wish to my readers is that you all have a happy, relatively prosperous, and most of all, a new year interspersed with regular and profound moments of peace.
We are confronted with amazing challenges this coming year and the lessons we have all imbibed in the form of empathy, compassion and strength will be (at last) more important than fiscal skills, acquisition or aggression to your neighbour on the freeway at 8:45am on a weekday. This is our big, big year to get it right once and for all!
Let's face it. We are a competitive species. So now we can compete to give rather than take, us one thing the Wall St debacle has shown us is that Gordon Gecko had it dead wrong. It just took all those years to prove he was wrong.
Happy Christmas.
Easy on the Bangers and Slabs of Flesh over Christmas, girls!
The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition reports that an Aussie study (probably taken around the Barbie) links high intake of meat to ovarian cancer.Women who ate the most meat and fat were 250% more likely to have ovarian cancer. Unfortunately, if you also ate lots of fruit and vegetables (and still scoffed too many bangers) the likelihood remained high.
How much is enough?
By now most of us are inured to the sight of long articles and multiple websites pointing out the inadequacies, perceived and real, of allopathic ('normal' medicine) treatments.
This is both good - and bad. It's good because it is testament to a healthy scepticism along with the power to probe the meanings behind the hype we hear in the advertising some drug companies foist upon us. It's bad because healthy scepticism, when taken too far, can 'inhabit us' - meaning we turn our backs on some pretty amazing advances just us we want to be right - or righteous.
Here at ION LIFE we've been subject to rapacious and apparently scientific scrutiny from one competitive company over the years and I'm guessing that without the sustained negative campaign this company waged against us, there would be thousands more people in Australia enjoying the health benefits of our ION LIFE water. But on the other hand, perhaps we are all the stronger because we did investigate fully every claim thrown at us and we can still hold our heads high and look our customers in the eye.
So when I read the report in the Australian newspaper about rates of side effects from the cervical cancer vaccine, I decided that it was time to lay to rest any fears I may have had about yet another unproven new cancer modality.
The Australian reported a study in the British Medical Journal that checked 380,000 doses given in 2007 to young girls in South Australia and Victoria. Of those, 35 girls experienced a 'suspected' reaction. Of these, 25 thought it important enough to agree to further testing. Of these THREE had probable allergic hypersensitivity to the vaccine.
Now let's compare this with what is already known about allergic reactions and vaccines. Another study showed that if we were to inject 80% of all girls in the US who were eligible for the cervical cancer vaccine with saline rather than the real thing, we'd still get 3 per 100,000 needing emergency hospital care for asthmatic or allergic reactions.
So 25 allergic reactions out of 380,000 vaccinations seems a very, very small 'price' to pay for cervical cancer protection for a whole generation of kids. Especially when (if my maths are correct) we'd get three times the reaction from a pure saline placebo!
What do you think?

Can the Mediterranean Diet help prevent Prostate Cancer?
A recent review on environmental factors in human prostate cancer also found that there were protective effects of vitamin E, pulses, soy foods and high plasma 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D levels.
The Mediterranean diet is abundant in foods that may protect against prostate cancer and is associated with longevity and reduced cardiovascular and cancer mortality. Compared with many Western countries Greece has lower prostate cancer mortality and Greek migrant men in Australia have retained their low risk for prostate cancer.
Consumption of a traditional Mediterranean diet, rich in bioactive nutrients, may confer protection to Greek migrant men, and this dietary pattern offers a palatable alternative for prevention of this disease.
Now there's some good news! I LOVE the Mediterranean diet!
Here's the science.

Ionized Wine???
New Scientist reports on a process invented in China to make good wine from rotgut. And guess what they use? They ionize it, just like we do with the Ion Life water alkalizer!

Fluoride, Fluoride, Fluoride!
It's certainly in the news lately, especially in Queensland.
Fluoride in Brisbane has created Google searches by the thousands as people scramble for a way to avoid the dreaded chemical in their family's water. We are just putting the finishing touches to a special 'infosite' about fluoride, but in the meantime, if you have any sort odf water filter you can now get a fluoride reduction cartridge for us. It will go inline before your ordinary filter. To learn more, click here.

Alkaline CookBook
I recently downloaded Dr Annie Guillet's Alkaline Cookbook in .pdf form.
Her compilation is a herculean effort because to create a book of alkaline - only recipes means your reputation is on the line for every single recipe. The book isn't just BIG; it's also a beautiful production packed with amazing mouth-watering pics, and I'm sending off for the hard copy now I've seen the downloaded one.
Dr Annie is a Melbourne natural therapist who has really created something that she should be very proud of. Now you can read about it and order it here.

A Great Juicer for sale
My dear sister-in-law, Gina, has had a Twin Health double auger juicer for the last 3 years.
For those of you who haven't seen a 'Twin Health' juicer, I can say it turned the juicing scene on its head with its fabulous ease of use, robust construction and juicing efficiency.
She's now buying a new Angel juicer which is even better, but far more expensive, so she wants to sell her Twin Health. At $500 it's a great deal. Her email is 22.gina at gmail.com (hacker proof email)
Here's a review site for the Twin Health Juicer.

Alkalizing Fruit and Vegetables: and the untold Truth About fruit and Fruit Juice
Along with this article on the alkalizing effect of fruit and vegetables, I also received another one in the 'Australian' two weeks ago.
The first article confirms what we have known for quite some time; that reversing the 80/20 rule from acid (80) and alkaline (20) we are far better off healthwise to eat 80% alkaline-producing foods and beverages.
The second print article exposes the role of fructose in obesity. The headline is 'Sweet and Deadly For the Waistline' and it's written by David Gillespie, author of Sweet Poison: Why Sugar Makes Us Fat.
David's own research began when as a corporate lawyer he found himself 40kg overweight. He agrees that we are 'ill-equipped to deal with the relatively large amounts of sugar we ingest as a matter of course as part of our SAD (Sad/Standard Australian/American Diet)
Nothing new so far, but David continues, describing research that shows we have one primary appetite control centre in our brain called the hypothalamus, which reacts to four major appetite hormones.
Three of these hormones tell us when we have stuffed ourselves. One of those three also temporarily inhibits the effect of the other three, and also makes 'menu suggestions' given our state of satiety.
Now remember what we were talking about at the beginning? Fruit and vegetables. But here's the problem. Fructose, found in almost all fruit, cannot stimulate the release of these 'satiety' hormones. What does that mean? It means that you can eat heaps of fruit, thinking you are a good little healthy diner, and you won't be told 'ENOUGH!' by these hormones. Further, the fructose - all of it - will be converted directly to FAT.
Summarizing, fructose is a one way street to Fat City.
Given that we now eat (on average) 38kg of sugar in some form per year, (19kg of fructose), it's no surpise that we are now seeing amazing increases in once-rare diseases such as type 2 diabetes and cardio vascular ailments.
What to do?
Well, it ain't easy, because food manufacturers are very adept at creating labels like' 'Low Sugar' or 'Sugar free'. What they neglect to inform us about is the fructose content. Sugar? Noooo.. It's fructose, not sugar!
If you drink one glass of apple juice, you have probably ingest fructose equal to six apples. Drink that one glass per day and you'll add 2.5kg to your avoirdupois.
My solutuion is simple. Less fruit, more vegetables. Green vegetables. Green, ALKALIZING vegetables.
A Very Worthwhile Article from Walter Last, Water Alkalizer user and experimenter
Walter Last has published many books on alternative and natural health. Here's the link to this, his latest article, titled 'Modern medicine'. (Walter began using alkaline water many years ago).

Are We Really Programmed to Consume?
My son Neil directed us to this site. He came in very excited, talking about a 'Pursuit of Happiness' program he ha watched.
He followed up by describing a nephew of Sigmund Freud who had basically brainwashed America with the government's endorsement. Being skeptical of conspiracy theories, I was a little slow in following hios advice to watch the program. But when i watched it and saw the effect Edward bernais had on America I was staggered. He singlhandedly converted ordinary citizens from people who only bought when they needed to industry-driven consumers.

Yet Another Coca Cola Spin Job?
I cam across this site recently and couldn't help but liken its logo to a certain internationally (in)famous cola company. Not that I'm suggesting a connection. Oh No! Not Me!
Its sole purpose appears to be to convince us that its all good stuff in them that brown bottles.

Why Some Diabetics are afraid of raw food
Last night was a great night for us. We hired the local theatre and screened “Simply Raw: 30 Days to Reverse Diabetes” This video just blew us away when we saw it, so much so that after watching it at home we immediately decided to share it by hiring the local theatre. It’s one of those rare videos that has you jumping for joy.
We printed brochures, we advertised, we talked about it on our blog, and after all of that the 110 seat theatre held just 42 souls. And please don’t mention breaking even!
And yet, for us, it was a roaring success, due to a large degree to one little boy.
Now you’d think that a movie about curing diabetes naturally would bring diabetics, wouldn’t you? Me too. But it actually seemed to bring raw foodies, and general natural health people – at least that’s the feedback we got from people as they filed into the theatre.
It was only after the show, as people gathered in the foyer, that we discovered young Matt. All of ten years old, he’d come with his parents, and his Dad approached me first.
“Are you hoping to run a 30-Day retreat?”
“Yes, we are.” I answered. “Are you interested?”
“Not me,” said Dad, “Him! Do you have age restrictions?”
I looked at this beautiful kid. He was looking back at me with open, hopeful eyes. “Are you a diabetic too?” I asked.
“Yep” he said, his eyes never leaving mine.
“And would you want to go 30 days on raw food like the film?” I asked.
“Yep.” He answered. No question about it. He knew what he’s seen.
Of course, we have no ‘policy’ about age. Hey, we haven’t even arranged the retreat yet. But I’d love to see young Matt there. He’s Type 1 diabetic; the one the experts say is incapable of producing insulin. Yet we’d just witnessed a young man on the video who got completely off his injections and medications, who stopped peeing at all hours, whose sight stopped deteriorating, and who had, as a result of his 30-day experience, decided on a change of lifestyle to naturopath specialising in raw foods so he could ‘spread the love’. (And only after the retreat did he learn that he was a misdiagnosed Type 1 ‘incurable’). I saw an old, overweight lady completely off insulin return home and begin a local awareness program targeting doctors and health care centres. I saw a elderly Italian American man change before my eyes into someone with light in his eyes and purpose in his life.. all because the proof was incontrovertible. The retreat worked.
So even though there was only one young diabetic we know of attending, it was still such a great night that I awoke this morning still buzzing - because I knew we had something that can change lives right here in the palm of our hands.
So.. there WILL be a 30 day retreat in the new year. There WILL be a chance to attend. It WILL change lives, attitudes and futures.
I also will have copies of the DVD so you can experience the Video yourselves and pass the message on to your friends.
My lesson of the night came from watching a 26-year old man on the video. He was being asked why he didn’t want to make the final jump to no insulin at all. His answer: “Because all my life, every doctor I ever went to told me I’d be on insulin for the rest of my life.” That explained to me why we had so few diabetics responding to our advertising and brochures. They believe that investigating a cure for diabetes, when their doctor has told them it is hopeless, will only bring on new pain and disappointment. So rather than investigate and come along, they stayed home with their insulin.
This morning I talked to Peter, my own doctor. He agreed. People don’t believe they can be healed, and he added that research into anti-diabetes drugs is taking on more and more complex drug research avenues. Just like cancer, just like heart disease, just like just what is happening for about every ‘incurable’ ailment. And yet think about it! Raw food diets heal diabetes!
So if you have a friend with Diabetes type one or two, please tell them to check out my site. If they just sign on to my newsletter I’ll make sure they have access to news as it happens about the video and the 30 day retreat. Why? Because I love the feeling of getting up in the morning knowing I changed the world in my small way yesterday!
For you Aussies.. please let me know if you'd like a local screening and we'll see what we can do in the new year. You can email me at ianATionlife.info
