The Relationship of sugar to cancer

This study looks at how cancer cells use sugar to replicate. It's a fascinating insight into cancer cells' superlative ability to beat its host at replication. Read it here

So you think you can eat enough greens to alkalize without supplements or alkaline water?

US Surgeon-General, David Satcher, blasted the health establishment rules at the Greenville Hospital System’s Minority Health Summit. he blasted the apathetic attempts at nutrition by the average American, and pointed out the consequence; massive diabetes outbreaks across the nation. Diabetes, the focus of the fourth annual minority health event at the Carolina First Center, messes up almost every organ system in the human body, Satcher said. It’s a cause of blindness, limb amputations, kidney failure, heart disease and stroke. The Satcher prescription calls for at least 30 minutes of exercise five days a week and a minimum of five servings of vegetables and fruits daily. Better yet, he said, 60 minutes and nine servings. Also, eat whole grains instead of foods made with white flour, brown rice instead of white, and choose low- or nonfat dairy products."

This is very interesting to me. Last night I watched the ABC Science show, Catalyst, (see it here) where Australian researchers at the Garvin Institute showed the correlation between fibre intake and
inflammation. They have actually observed this link, the first time ever, between fibre, bacteria and cells.

Fibre is the 'chaff' for the horses - in this case the kilo and a half of bacteria in our gut. The bacteria feed on the fibre,
and in doing so, ferments it into short chain fatty acids, which then come into contact with immune cells. Receptors on the immune cells use these short chain fatty acids as 'signal' activators. When they meet, the receptor on the cell signals the immune cell to 'get to work' reducing inflammation. The program interviewed a woman in Perth who has had spectacular results in improving both her diabetes and her cholesterol just by ensuring she took in 40 grams of fibre every day. The program called this a 'whopping amount' pointing out that most of us only get around 12grams.

To me, 40 grams isn't 'whopping'. It's the 12 grams that are whopping. Whoppingly inadequate and indicative of the total failure of our system to educate us about diet. Of course it's easy to blame the fast fooders, the school lunches, the Cokes.. but really, 40 grams isn't 'whopping' in our household and we love what we eat.

There are two important points I want to share here. Firstly; we still have a few of that amazing DVD "Simply Raw' where we see ordinary '12 gram' people beat their Diabetes 1 and 2, on a raw diet. So is it the raw food or the fibre, or both?

I believe the raw food that the people in the DVD consumed was exceptionally good, organic etc, AND high fibre, so it worked both ways. I also believe their diet suddenly gained greenery - that is, they began eating greens as well as fibre, so they began to alkalise.

We've heard many stories from alkalizing clients who were struggling with diabetes but we can't legally talk about them here. But it's my belief that alkalizing and fibre and greens are all MAJOR contributors to the return to vitality.

Inflammation is a big news right now. Look up inflammation diets on Google and you'll see they are a hot subject. It's just so obvious; inflammation happens through excess acidity, and excess acidity is a result of inflammation. Yes, fibre gets our immune system to reduce inflammation with the help of our gut flora, but our immune system is only capable of working if it's healthy, wellfed and strong, which brings us back to greens, hydration and alkalizing.

The beauty of our human bodies is the interdependence of all of its aspects. A kidney isn't just a kidney. It does what it does as an eliminator, but it supports or takes part in so many other important functions. And when we see this kind of research identifying one such inter-relationship of fibre to immune cells, it reminds us of our own magnificent body.. and hopefully allows us to give it a little more care and attention.

I love this stuff! I love to see what I am capable of in this amazing age of scientific advances and release and sharing of information! And I love to watch my mind connect the dots between these isolated facts and studies. Alkaline balance is to do with everything we do; heart, elimination, immunity, lungs, skin... It is, to me, the base, the substrate of our body systems. Ignore it at our own risk, yet as David Satcher pointed out, most of us are doing just that.

As good as summary of Acid/Alkaline theory as you'll get.

Dr Greg Emerson came to my notice when a young friend of mine saw him in desperation.

Dinny had serious Rheumatoid Arthritis, and Dr Greg changed her life from frankly, pretty horrible to a brand new outlook (Excuse the metaphor mixing)

Greg is also a fan of Dr Robert O. Young's work, and I personally recommmend him to anyone attempting to manage acid/alkaline health issues.

Here's his web site and discussion.

Do You Live In Melbourne? Want to Lower Your Biological Age?

Performance Coach Peter Stone is a pretty amazing guy. Not just because he guarantees to reduce your biological age by 15 years, but because he really is a committed 'Alkalarian'.

Even before Peter found AlkaWay, he was seeing first-hand the results of his advice to people about regaining their alkaline balance. As a pro ski instructor, Peter would teach stressed out business people to go away and change their lives towards alkaline. He was such an inspiration to them that they actually took his advice - so when they arrived back next season he had the satisfaction of seeing the results of his advice in slimmer, more vital, less stressed individuals.

Peter is going to hold a free seminar in Melbourne on his two key life strategies;

When: December 9th

Time: 7:00 pm - 8:30pm

Where: Sports House - MSAC Institute Of Training - 375 Albert Road, Albert Park, Victoria,

1. How to run your body to balance acid / alkaline
2. How to run your mind to balance acid / alkaline

If you'd like to reserve a FREE seat, check in on his website
here

In Peter's inspiring words...

"My mission is to help 1,000 people discover true wealth in life by taking 15 years off their biological age by December 25th 2010. So this free seminar may be the most important thing you experience all year as I’ll invite you to join in the fun and take 15 years of your biological age and discover true wealth in life! After all… If a tired, grumpy, hung-over, broken down, overweight with high cholesterol 32 year old ski coach with limited resources can do it and find a way to enjoy the process!! Then quite possibly YOU CAN TOO!"

Alkaline Rules the Press

Last weekend our Sydney Morning Herald had an article on three people following three radically different diets.

The first one was a fitness instructor who only ate raw meat.
The second was a woman who had been eating only fruit for years and looked like she'd blow away if someone opened a window.

The third was a Chinese Traditional medicine therapist who made the most sense by a country mile.

Dr Qi Chen, 50, but looking thirty, discussed his and his family's diet. He eats up to 70% rice, with more vegetables and less meat - about half the meat ordinary Chinese eat.
For breakfast, he eats Congee - rice porridge mixed with green barley and sweet potato. He encourages his son to eat one egg a day for the brain, the memory and thr lipids (fats)
Like Cassie and I, he's not a dairy fan at all. 'Once children grow up, no more milk. Too much growth hormone in it. If adults have too much growth hormone, can be prone to cancer".

He's also like me in that he doesn't try to drink lots of water, because he believes that drinking too much water makes the kidneys work too hard. He won't drink tap water. and if he does, he leaves it out overnight for the gaseous chlorine to dissipate. I only drink about a litre and a half a day because my ION LIFE water is so hydrating, my body tells me it's had enough with less.

"We don't drink mineral water. Australian mineral water is too acid. You have to check the pH level. if over 7, this water good. Lower then seven should be avoided. It can cause stone in the body - kidney stone, gallstone."

His basic dietary philosophy revolves around keeping the body in an alkaline rather than an acid state. He believes that cancer cannot survive in an alkaline environment, and that normal cells mutate because of an excessively acidic inner terrain. "Too much free radical. That make our DNA mutate. Alkalized blood makes our DNA more stable."

When we began to talk about alkaline balance eight years ago they thought I was nuts. How things change!

Yes, but does an alkaline diet REALLY support bone growth?

It's a resounding YES! Researcher Dr Bess Dawson-Hughes of Tufts University found that diets high in cereal grains and proteins actually produce an excess of acid in the body, and may weaken bones and increase calcium excretion.

The study found that increasing the alkali content of the diet, the opposite effect and strengthens bone health.

‘Heredity, diet, and other lifestyle factors contribute to the problem of bone loss and fractures,’ said lead author Dr Bess Dawson-Hughes of Tufts University. ‘When it comes to dietary concerns regarding bone health, calcium and vitamin D have received the most attention, but there is increasing evidence that the acid/base balance of the diet is also important.’

Average older adults consume diets that, when metabolised, add acid to the body. With aging, we become less able to excrete the acid. One way the body may counteract the acid from our diets is through bone resorption, a process by which bones are broken down to release minerals such as calcium, phosphates, and alkaline (basic) salts into the blood. Unfortunately, increased bone resorption leads to declines in bone mass and increases in fracture risk.

‘When fruits and vegetables are metabolised they add bicarbonate, an alkaline compound, to the body,’ said Dr. Dawson Hughes. ‘Our study found that bicarbonate had a favourable effect on bone resorption and calcium excretion. This suggests that increasing the alkali content of the diet may attenuate bone loss in healthy older adults.’

In this study, 171 men and women aged 50 and older were randomised to receive placebo or doses of either: potassium bicarbonate, sodium bicarbonate, or potassium chloride for 3 months. ‘We demonstrated that adding alkali in pill form reduced bone resorption and reduced the losses of calcium in the urine over a 3-month period,’ said Dr. Dawson-Hughes. ‘This intervention warrants further investigation as a safe and well tolerated supplement to reduce bone loss and fracture risk in older men and women.

Further, for all our potassium supplementing clients, it was found that potassium DID lower Calcium Excretion and Bone Resorption in Older Men and Women

Fat Kids' Arteries. A Big Uh-Oh!

There's depressing news.. like the Congo, Darfur. the environment and the economy. It makes you sit lower in the lounge as the TV 'educates' you, go to bed ealy and wake up feeling like you've been drugged.

Then there's 'Uh Oh' news that gives you a wakeup call that you want to respond to, and are able to deal with and take advantage of.

The following an 'Uh Oh' item.

The neck arteries of obese children and teens look more like those of 45-year-olds, according to research presented at the American Heart Association’s Scientific Sessions 2008.

“There’s a saying that ‘you’re as old as your arteries,’ meaning that the state of your arteries is more important than your actual age in the evolution of heart disease and stroke,” said Geetha Raghuveer, M.D., M.P.H., associate professor of pediatrics at the University of Missouri Kansas City School of Medicine and cardiologist at Children’s Mercy Hospital. “We found that the state of the arteries in these children is more typical of a 45-year-old than of someone their own age.”

Using ultrasound to measure the thickness of the inner walls of the neck (carotid) arteries that supply blood to the brain, Dr Raguveer's team found our 'Uh Oh' moment.

It seems that increasing carotid artery intima-media thickness (CIMT) indicates the fatty buildup of plaque within arteries feeding the heart muscle and the brain, which of course, can lead to heart attack or stroke. The plumbing is blocking up.

Obviously, we're not designed for oday's environment we have created for ourselves. Some of our responses to that environment are maladaptive. Historically calorie malnutrition was the biggest killer of our ancestors. So we have genes that make us like food, especially fatty sweet food. As a result some kids have vascular systems that are undergoing accelerated aging.

The children’s “vascular age” — the age at which the level of thickening would be normal for their gender and race — was about 30 years older than their actual age, Dr. Raghuveer said.

So where's the 'Uh Oh'? in all that? Here's an item we can work with. A kid isn't so old that he or she isn't damaged beyond repair. A kid is adaptive. A kid wants to be accepted and will follow behaviour that rewards him with love and approval. A kid CAN be weaned off junkfood and bad physical habits.

Yes, yes, we've all heard that it's genetic and therefore.. or 'our whole family is obese'.. or 'I can't hurt him; he's such a good kid'.

But can we really hear what Dr Raghuveer is saying? The arteries - the plumbing of the body - are going to wear out THIRTY YEARS before your beautiful kid does! As so many people around the world chanted only last week;
"YES WE CAN!"

Alkaline Water Exposed

You may have seen the Google link promising dark secrets about alkaline ionized water 'exposed'.

It's been coming from the same guy for the last seven years, and guess what? He sells a water filter that has nothing like the ability of the Jupiter system to alkalize.

I've even seen his 'claims' regurgitated lately in popular alternative health mags. Here's our response page plus a free download of our more comprehensive rebuttal called 'The Untold Truth About Alkaline Water'

Vitamin C and cancer Therapy Clash

It must be really hard sometimes for 'establishment' medicine to admit they are wrong. It appears that one way of admitting they are wrong is to commit the ultimate 'turnaround'.

What do I mean? Let's take a look at the latest report on the 'adverse' effect of vitamin C on chemotherapy.

But first, let's set the context. Ever since Dr Linus Pauling received a drubbing from establishment medicine on his theory of the benefits of large Vitamin C intake, report after report after report has spewed forth condemning his theory and 'disproving' his claim that vitamin C is a fabulous immune-supporting supplement.

So now researchers have confirmed that Vitamin C's powerful antioxidant ability, we get:

"Vitamin C appears to protect the mitochondria from extensive damage, thus saving the cell," said lead researcher Dr Mark Heaney. A BBC article adds, "Vitamin C appeared to protect tiny structures inside the cancer cells called mitochondria from damage."

Why is this now presented as bad, thereby confirming medical authorities prior condemnation?

Here comes the big turnaround. Vitamin C is bad.. because it's good at protecting the cell. Got that? It's BAD because chemotherapy wants to kill cells, and Vitamin C protects them.

The FDA, the official USA arbiter in all matters medical, has publicly stated as policy that vitamin siupplements are inert!

So.. an 'inert' vitamin' is 'badl' because it protects the cells, which officially, it doesn't.

Ya gotta laugh.. Or cry.

'Untold Truth About The Cause of Disease' Second Edition

We received a very large delivery today of the new edition of my book The Untold Truth About The Cause of Disease.

In this edition I've doubled the content and have included far more about alkalizing alternatives, plus a detailed explanation of the role of hydrogen, the building block of life, in pH balancing.

Without blowing my own trumpet too much, I have to say that books I've read on pH balancing don't have the amount of hands-on detail that this does. It includes all the ways of alkalizing that I've come across in the last eight years with my own experience of each one. I've also written it so that someone who doesn't even know about the subject can quickly become involved and informed about the fundamental importance of this absorbing health regimen.

For this month they are selling at $5 plus postage. If you are 'in the biz' and talk to many people about this subject, it might be a good idea to grab a few of these.

Dr Robert O. Young: a truly amazing talk!

While you can, before you forget, download this talk by Dr Robert O. Young and set aside an hour to really listen.

As you probably know, I'm a great fan of the good works Dr. Young does in the area of acid/alkaline balance research. I've read his books, listened to his talks, but I've never heard a better talk than this about my favourite health strategy.

Do yourself a big favour and download it here. It's in mp3 format.

Water and Weight Loss

We are very used to our alkaline water drinking clients ringing in with tales of weight loss after beginning on our water. "And I didn't even change my diet!" they exclaim excitedly.

It isn't surpising to us. As Dr Robert O. Young and Dr Linda Frasetto say, we have come to the point where fat has become our friend and savoiur.

Fat is now sequestered to be used as our very own in-house toxic waste dump. Why? because our 'modern, advanced' society has forced us into an environment so toxic that our kidneys can't keep up with the acid onslaught. Our bodies use fat to stash excess acid waste away from the vital organs; on the bum, the belly, the underarms...

When people begin alkalizing, they very often report weight loss - and it's my own theory that this is because they have no further requirement for the fat they stashed to hold acids. Alkaline water from an ION LIFE water alkalizer is also microclustered, meaning it's much smaller in molecular size than tap water, so it starts getting into those in-house toxic waste dumps, neutralising and clearing out the acids.

So the body, that ever-alert master controller, says it's time to get rid of that excess fat, because its reason for being there is now gone!

When I see all the popular diets I sometimes wonder why no-one has realised the relationship of fat to acid waste. It's a new phenomenon - a product of our toxic life, so perhaps they just haven't caught up yet.

Of course, simply drinking water will assist weight loss. Check this article to learn more about why.

Dr Weil in Denial?

Some of my readers may be aware that Dr Andrew Weil, Internet Doc, has criticized water alkalizers as 'a scam'.

Of course, as far as we can ascertain, he never did use one, test one, and he certainly never bothered answering any of my emails.

Now it appears he is the one to cop criticism, from no less than Dr Larry Trivieri, backed by his advisory board of eminent physicians, five in all.

Here's a transcript of what Dr Trivieri had to say about Dr. Weil's judgement on drugs.

It's Happening: The World is Waking Up...

Another book on pH balancing, this time from long term Alkalarian Dr Susan Lark, stressing health, beauty and vitality. Hardly a day passes now without one more book on pH balance being released.

“Be the woman with glowing skin, hair that gleams, and eyes that shine...and make everyone wonder what your secret is.”
Whewee!

A Real Heart Opener Technology

It's happening more often. Truly inspired people are taking a previously impossible concept and, with the almost unlimited technological advances we now have, creating answers to problems we have accepted as unanswerable. The Tango is one such idea now come to fruition that's going to help thousands of disabled kids to live, to communicate - and to grow - like never before possible. The website has demo videos you just have to see. It brought tears to my eyes. Go here
